very finest dance schools in the intermountain west.
We offer a wide variety of instruction for ages 3 years to 17 with all levels of ability. At the Salt Lake Dance Center, we have a year round, complete program of ballet and pre-ballet in addition to jazz, hip-hop and contemporary. Students are trained in a pleasant, nurturing environment with professionally qualified instructors.
Many students from Salt Lake Dance Center who have studied in the past and continue to study with us have achieved some very impressive accomplishments. Many of our dancers have been accepted into national dance programs, either on scholarships or as full company members, such as the New York City Ballet School, Atlanta Ballet, Houston Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Boston Ballet, and the Pennsylvania ballet, The Milwaukee Ballet, The Professional Performing Arts High School in Interlochen, Michigan, Contra Costa Ballet, Alvin Ailey in New York City, the Disneyland Professional Dance Company and AMDA. Many students have and continue to receive scholarships to university and college dance programs such as Brigham Young University, University of Utah, Snow College, Rick’s college, and College of Eastern Utah.
Classes We Offer
Join Our Dance Community
These classes are specifically designed for children 8 years of age and younger. The focus is on the pre-stages of ballet as well as stressing quality of movement, exercise, rhythm, and creativity. The primary purpose of this program is not only to begin proper training, but moreover to develop a love for the movement of dance.
Ballet is the very foundation of all forms of dance. At the Salt Lake Dance Center, we believe in the finest technical training for ballet students as well as the importance of performing experience. Our students are trained in the traditional Russian Ballet style, with knowledge of all other ballet styles. Ballet classes are divided by age, level, and then they follow a progressive syllabus. Consideration is given to each student concerning third interests, goals, and specific talents.
Pointe work is offered for dancers who are strong in ballet technique. Our classes develop dancers properly encompassing prepointe strength leading into practicing en pointe.
Jazz dance is not only an exciting and entertaining form of dance, but a healthy one as well. At the Center, we offer classes to train jazz dancers and provide opportunities for students to audition for our performance companies. Jazz is focused on technique, style, and performance quality. Jazz is great for kids who are interested in cheerleading, drill team, professional dance companies, and dance scholarships, as well as the recreational dancer.
